CARE FOR YOUR SILK AND CASHMERE

… you want to keep it looking and feeling wonderful!

for INDIGO please scroll down for VERY important information

The care is simple but please remember - this is not an item that should be cleaned or washed every day or week….

Please just gently hand wash (no big movements) in cool water with a little wool/silk specific pH neutral detergent.

Do NOT rub or agitate the fabric when washing - especially the cashmere as it will felt and shrink and end up being very sad!

We recommend EUCALAN detergent - as it is fantastic!

Please leave to air dry and then, if things are very wrinkled a very light steam iron on the reverse side with a damp cotton cloth between the scarf and the iron.

DO NOT DRY CLEAN.

As with all natural dyes - the colours will alter and adjust over time especially when exposed for long periods to UV (sun), so when not in use keep out of direct light.

MOTHS… yes not only you like natural cashmere!!! best thing to do with your scarf is keep in a ziplock bag when storing and if you are worried then a couple of days in the freezer with stop the eggs/grubs and their munching jaws!!!!

NATURAL INDIGO  - Woodland Threads natural indigo-dyed Cashmere or silk fabrics are unique – each one being individually hand dyed and decorated using a resist-dying technique to create striking patterns in blue and white.

I use plant sourced indigo and Fruit and Fructose reduced vats (most current indigo used is synthetic and uses harsh and very unpleasant reducing chemicals) Indigo as a 'dye' is very different to other natural dyes as it is more of a 'coating', deeper colours are only achieved through successive dips.

The Indigo “coatings” on the surface of the fibre can rub off – the result of this is often seen and liked in the form of distressed jeans etc.

WARNING: The nature of Indigo is that it can rub off – this is NOT A FAULT – but the nature of the dye. Therefore, with newly produced indigo garments or fabric – CARE MUST BE TAKEN as the INDIGO BLUE CAN RUB OFF onto paler fabrics or skin.  With wear and washing this will reduce and take on its very own patina.

PLEASE WASH SEPERATELY and NEVER WITH LIGHT FABRICS

Please wash by hand – cool and with wool/silk specific, pH neutral, detergent.  You may wish to finish with a rinse in sensitive (baby suitable) fabric conditioner.  Dry naturally only.

DO NOT DRY CLEAN.

Also we care about the environment! so fabrics are sourced from fair trade, environmentally conscious suppliers.

The minimum of chemicals are used in our dying and everything is air dried. All the dyes are natural, that is plant and animal based (Lac and Cochineal are insect based dyes).
